So, we generally stick to about 6x3 for the snatches, and 6x2-3 for the clean and jerks as our work sets.
As for %, we try to do 6x3 or 6x2-3 with 100% of our 1RM. No kidding. Of course, it's not possible. Let's say, we miss 100% for 6x3 (more than likely), we try 99%...all the way down, maybe down to 70% if your technique's really poop.
I mean, after all, if you can do 88% of your 1RM on that day, why do 85% then? So ...how the heck do you do it?
Work up to a 1RM. Say you CNJ'ed 100KG (for sakes of simplicity), then try to CNJ 100KG for another 2 reps. See if you can get it. If that doesn't work, then the next set, try 96KG or something.
What if your 1RM's higher than that? How about recovery??
Coach Wu has done a 195KG clean at 69KG. I don't think anybody reading this has a higher 1RM at that bodyweight than him. He does this programming too. Personally seen him CNJ 160KG after training for 3 weeks, and this was simple how he developed his numbers to those levels. Just lots of reps at close to 1RM weights.
Who is this not recommended for? People who still don't know their own technique.
